The Floral Designer Next Door: Don’t risk missing out on a talented wedding floral designer because of his or her location
I can’t argue that wedding businesses that have a flashy, professionally designed and maintained website, an adorable delivery van with bright company logo, an elaborate booth at a wedding show and a high-style boutique from which to do business aren’t attractive. They are often dazzling and inspiring to couples planning a wedding.
As a consumer myself, I like to window shop at stores boasting gorgeous window displays, well designed fixtures and upscale products. However, at such fine-looking establishments, rarely can I afford what inspires me, nor can I get the quantity that I would like. I always leave feeling like I have settled for less.
If you are overlooking a wedding floral designer because his or her location is not in Swank City (or not in a shop at all) or they don’t have a mind-blowing website, you may be missing out on some of the best floral designers in your area. You may also be settling for less and missing out on a really great deal.
All of those fabulous business accoutrements cost a pretty penny, and in some cases lots of pretty pennies. Some expenses can be absorbed and written off as the cost of doing business or a least written off for tax purposes. However, most of those expenses are passed to you, intrepid wedding consumer. Sure, you’ll be able to get gorgeous flowers for your wedding, but you can get that much and more from a designer with more humble business accessories, including working out of a home.
Imagine having to pay for two of everything: two rents, two utility bills, two internet packages, two vehicles, etc... Throw in marketing expenses, like that flashy website or the elaborate booth at the wedding show, and the cost really adds up! Without all the sparkling trappings, a floral designer can charge less because they need less to make ends meet. I know of several very talented and highly-rated floral designers that even work out of their homes!
Don’t miss out on your area’s hidden gems. They’re out there! If you don’t know them by name, go to any well-known wedding planning website and scroll past the big flashy ads. You may find your perfect floral match waiting just a few lines further down.
